Colour: Green to emerald green. Tsavorite is rarely treated, as it is naturally bright with minimal inclusions.
Family: Garnet
Hardness: 7.5 out of 10 on the Mohs scale.
Found in: The highest-quality tsavorite is believed to be mined in Tanzania, although it was first discovered in Kenya.
Other information: Tsavorite is commonly a very small stone, so anything weighing more than 2cts is very rare. Tsavorite only came into popular knowledge in the late 1960s, at which point Tiffany & Co. took great interest in the gemstone.
Mythology: Tsavorite is believed to represent romance, sensuality and confidence, and is believed to bring about success in business.
